Helping Hands at Hands and Hearts
As with all non-profits, the backbone of our program comes from our volunteers who dedicate their time each week to help our riders have safe and enjoyable lessons.
Just as important as working with our riders, HHH volunteers perform a myriad of tasks “behind the scenes” that help keep the daily operations of the program working. These include, but are not limited to grooming and tacking horses in preparation for a lesson, assisting our feeders during morning and afternoon feedings, general cleaning and upkeep of the facility, upkeep and maintenance of the tack and we use on a daily basis, community representation, special event planing, and assissting our staff with various administrative tasks.
While most volunteers choose to come out on a weekly basis, bi-weekly, substitute, or special events only opportunities are available as well, though all volunteers are scheduled for a specific time that fits with their schedule and asked to maintain it unless they notify the staff of their inability to do so.
Regardless of whether they are wanting to simply help in the barn, or assist with our riders, all volunteers are asked to attend a two-hour training on the history, mission, and basic ins and outs of lesson safety at Hands and Hearts. These trainings are held the first Monday of each month.
