Sail on Jet “Jet” (Retired) |
Jet was an ex-race horse that came to us after having been a brood mare for a few years. She was very sweet and tried hard, but in the end the bowed tendons she had received during her racing career had not allowed her to continue as a therapy horse. |
Traveler “Travis” (Retired) |
Traveler is a big boy with a big heart. He worked with us for as long as he could before retiring down the road to his own pasture. Oftentimes we will ride some of his old buddies down to his fence to say hi and talk about old times. |

Charlie may be a neurotic bay Thoroughbred gelding, but he knew when to get focused on his work. He’s now moved to a Retirement Home in Alachua, FL called Mill Creek Farm. Please visit him if you’re nearby and give him our love… and a carrot or two. |

Charlie “Tweedledee” (Retired) |

Big and boney, Taylor was a chestnut Thoroughbred gelding and Charlie’s best friend. They would often take the long way around when re-entering that barn at feeding time, and Taylor enjoyed daring Charlie to sneak into other horse’s stalls and steal food. Now that both of them are no longer with us, we feel that we have lost more than horses. We have lost friends. |

Hands and Hearts for Horses |
A Memorial |
This page is dedicated to all of the horses that have given so much and Hearts for Horses, and are no longer able to be with us. |
Blaze “Joker” (1979-2004) |
If Blaze had been a human, he would have been that Uncle you always wanted to spend time with. Always willing to listen and make you smile, his favorite riders were the littlest ones. |
Darlin’ “Double D” (1986-2006) |
Darlin’ was one of the founding horses of the Hands and Hearts for Horses program, and he was a big wanna-be tough guy. His whole life revolved around food, but he loved his job (as long as he got to eat). |

Cocoa “The Princess” (1975-2008) |
Cocoa was our other pony that helped out our smaller riders. The little bay Welsh would often run ahead of her herd (Kaylee, SunFlower, & Jet) when it’s dinner time and help herself to their feed buckets. She truly shined though when she got to do a few small jumps– a throwback to her childhood.
