“The Groundwork for All Happiness is Health”
Hay there Hands and Hearts for Horses fans! August is here, school has started, and the humans at the barn are getting ready for our Fall Session to start on September 2nd! It’s me your friendly “NEIGH”borhood horse blogger and I’m back to update you on all the new things happening at the barn!
Neve & Devyn Reporting for Duty!
Program horse Neve loves her job so much she came into the classroom with CTRI Devyn to collect summer campers to come do vaulting with her!
Blog Reminders
Remember, I have been hiding clues to my secret horsey identity in each blog entry, so if you haven’t checked out my prior blog posts, go back and read them and search for the clues! I have included the link to each post below for easy access!
Week 1: GUESS WHO'S BACK, BACK AGAIN? — Hands & Hearts for Horses
Week 2: "I NEED SOME SPACE" — Hands & Hearts for Horses
Week 4: "GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!" — Hands & Hearts for Horses

Week 6: Springtime Has Brought Us New Friends as we Say Goodbye to Others! — Hands & Hearts for Horses
REMEMBER, if you think you know which horse I am, shoot us a message or email Stephanie at stephanie@handsandheartsforhorses.com ! Don’t spoil the mystery for our other followers by posting your guess publicly! Can you piece together the clues and figure out which horse I am? Because I’ll never tell, well not until enough of you have guessed my secret! Once enough correct guesses have come in, I’ll post a summary of the clues that should have led you to guess my identity and we will do a big reveal!
The first person to guess my identity correctly will win a Hands and Hearts for Horses sticker and a piece of pretty Hands and Hearts for Horses themed jewelry created by our very own boss lady (or as the humans call her executive director) Susie’s own mom! So, tune in for those clues and get those guesses in! One guess per person, per week please!
Great ways to figure out which horse I am are coming to volunteer, being one of our riders, or investigating on our social media or website!
New Equine Wellness Program!
This summer has been full of changes at the barn, all with the intention of helping our program grow while allowing our participants and us horses to thrive! The one I’m most excited about is the new Equine Wellness Program!
The humans are setting up special groups of volunteers that will come each morning and help do checks on each horse for wounds, potential issues, etc. This will provide consistent handling and healthcare of the Hands & Hearts horses! They will be checking the physical and emotional “wellness” of each of our herd members! With summer being full of so many bugs, (I absolutely cannot stand bugs) a lot of us horses are scratching ourselves on things, which can cause minor scrapes that if they are left alone can get infected and turn into major issues! Along with these checks and treatments of our horses, our wellness team volunteers will also help do consistent stretches with our horses to help strengthen and mobilize our cores and backs!
Why is this program such a huge deal and so exciting to me?
It will make it so things are caught early, treated properly, and help us hopefully avoid any issues worsening and turning into major problems that could make it so that we horses are out of work, unable to carry riders, or have to be retired. Increasing our longevity helps our program because each of us horses is a huge investment of our program, we are the foundation without which Hands and Hearts for Horses could not exist!
That’s all from me for this blog my loyal readers! Stay tuned for more of our exciting changes at the barn!
